SPCCF ORCHESTRA COMPOSITION
The Unicamp Symphony Orchestra will premiere orchestral works by accepted SPCCF composers. Maestro Cinthia Alireti leads the orchestra and the concert will be conducted by, amongst other guest conductors, visiting guest conductor Evan Harger.
Orchestral submissions should be no longer than seven minutes. Each composer will attend at least one rehearsal of their works prior to their premiere; the orchestra will begin rehearsals one week before the beginning of the festival. Composers may submit works in progress, whether handwritten or partially notated on software.
Participant composers are also invited to submit pieces for the Unicamp Symphony Orchestra + flute soloist (Xiaoyu Lin)

UNICAMP SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The Unicamp Symphony Orchestra (Orquestra Sinfônica da Unicamp | OSU) is administered by the Unicamp Center for Integration, Documentation, and Outreach (Centro de Integração, Documentação e Difusão Cultural da Unicamp | CIDDIC), which has the mission of promoting and develop cultural activities for both the university community and the Brazilian national audiences.
The OSU performs, records, develops laboratories for creation and performance, outreach concerts, multimedia events, opera, and chamber music. The orchestra regularly hosts internationally acclaimed soloists and conductors.
In collaboration with the Opera Studio Unicamp, the orchestra performed several operas, including "Le Nozze di Figaro" in 2014 and "Don Giovanni" in 2015; “L'elisir d'amore" and the world premiere of the multimodal opera “Descobertas”, by acclaimed Brazilian composer Jônatas Manzolli, in 2016; and "Die Zauberflöte" in 2017.
In 2010, the orchestra launched the CD “Novos Universos Sonoros”, sponsored by the Brazilian company Petrobras, registering several chamber and orchestral works by Brazilian composers. The orchestra also recorded the CD “Panorama da Música Brasileira Vol. 1” in 2013, and the CD “Teuto-brasileiro” in 2016.
Amongst several awards, the OSU was awarded the prestigious Prêmio APCA (Associação Paulista de Críticos de Artes de São Paulo), at the Art Music category.
UNICAMP - MUSIC DEPARTMENT ORCHESTRA
* The Unicamp Music Department Orchestra will perform concerti for soloists and orchestra.
The University of Campinas - Music Department Orchestra (Orquestra do Departamento de Música da UNICAMP) consists of university students and professional musicians from the region of São Paulo. Each year the orchestra proudly programs between five to eight concerts consisting of major symphonic works, concerto’s, and works with choir.
In 2017, the Orquestra do Departamento de Música da UNICAMP performed the World Premiere of the ballet I-Juca Pirama, by Brazilian composer Almeida Prado, at the Opening Concert of the XXVII Congresso da ANPPOM. Additionally, Director Carlos Fiorini has commissioned many composers from around the world, as he is committed to the development and promotion of new music.
